A visit to one of the beaches in Sydney inspired a series of sketches and paintings that explored the relationship between the hard dock areas, the adjacent parkland and beach, the cliffs that surround the narrow inlet and the toungue of water, where people and fish manage to mix. Each of the sketches plays with aspects of the place's attributes; the large concrete platforms; the red rock; the steps down to the beach; the houses on the crest of the surrounding hills.
